Jingyuan is situated in the core area of the Town of Hot Spring of Wuyi county. In 2002, Ying Hongbiao, the founder of Jingyuan, collected hundreds of exquisite ancient buildings for the purpose of protection from Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi, and Fujian provinces, after seeing the dire conditions they were in. Later in 2010, these buildings were relocated in Jingyuan and were perfectly arranged on this water-fronting saddle since then. Eight years later, Jinyuan Ancient Architecture Museum was built upon it. The museum includes three major parts, the Tourism Zone, the Hotel Area, and the Cultural District. Jingyuan has a magnificent collection of southern-style ancient residences: the mansions of scholars from Jianou with hundreds of pillars guarding the owners’ fortune; the richly ornamented ancient stage from Leping, Jiangxi, expressing a sense of history and romance; the mansion of Li, a lawyer in Qing Dynasty, covering an area as large as thousands of square meters; the Neihuodong Residence of Widow Zhu, which took 18 years to build, having been witnessed 300 years of winds and rains; rows of Weizhou ancient residences surrounded by high walls and ornamented with fine bricks…… Pavilions, towers, bridges, and corridors, here one can see them all. There are also hundreds of trees that age more than 300 years and tens of thousands of flowers. One would feel like being in a wonderland when walking among them.
Here in Jingyuan, the finest woods and the finest works of the best craftsmen are collected. All the houses come directly from the real history. Every single landscape is a unique piece of traditional art. A scientific planning helps to preserve the integrative and systematic nature of ancient residences. The large scale and high quality of Jingyuan’s collection is in a class by itself.
Since the opening of Jingyuan, nearly one million tourists from home and abroad have come to this place. Jiangyuan has also drawn extensive attention from CCTV, ZJTV, and other media outlets. Other than that, Li Qiang, former provincial governor, Yuan Jiajun, deputy provincial governor, Li Zaoxing, former Minister of Diplomacy, specialists on ancient architectures from Tsinghua University, and other scholars and officials have shown great interest and support to the development of Jingyuan, which further increase its popularity. In the meantime, a variety of cultural activities such as Fairy Tale Fest, Poetry Contest, First Writing Ceremony, Photography Exhibition were held in Jingyuan. In 2016, Jingyuan in collaboration with Zhejiang Tourism Group gradually establishes a “Yangtze-River-Delta-based, nationwide, and internationally-oriented” tourists structure. Jingyuan is distinctive in its “ancient residences” theme and richness in traditional Chinese culture. Currently, it is promoting, with full strength, the mode of hot spring B&B: a hundred-year-old house with private hot spring. Jingyuan is building its reputation as a “Grandview Garden” with various products and services.
With a single tour, one could take in all features of Southern-style ancient residences.
With a stay for several days, one could live the life of ancient scholars.
In the foreseeable future, Jingyuan will continuously strive for further improvement and perfection.
